I did not want 2 seperate items of lesser value :( I am really dissapointed. After complaining they did agree to send me a seperate grinder. I purchased this machine in 12/2008. They are only able to replace the coffee maker with a regular non grinding machine of much less value. I called Melitta for repair or replacement. The only way you can receive warranty/replacement is if the retailer you purchased it from still has them in stock. I went to the Militta website to inquire about product service. Otherwise, with a sales receipt, Applica will supply you with both a Black and Decker coffee maker and grinder. It has been a great appliance till now. This sucks, as I totally love this coffee maker. To my dismay, I learned that this coffe maker is no longer manufactured, and ironically enough, it was manufactured by Fox International, not Melitta.
News Flash - Black and Decker is not comparable in any way. I purchased this fab coffee maker in July 08, it is now Feb 09. It stopped brewing Superbowl weekend. Your out over $100.
I strongly recommend this coffee maker.Matthew Summerhill The only down fall would be if you do not live in an area that receives the signals to give you the weather and time. This is a very good product. It was given as a wedding gift and it has been the best coffee maker I have ever had and I have had many. Otherwise, I have never had any problems with it for the 16 months we have had and used it.
The company (Orange Onions) Melitta ME1MSB Smart Mill & Brew 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemakeris virtually non=responsive for a return - we returned the coffee maker two months ago and have heard nothing from them nor have we received a refund. The eye catching feature that provides a weather report is only available in 100 cities throughout the United States. Amazon should not be offering products from dishonest vendors.
We love it. Please check the Melitta website for the weather radio station it uses to see if it is available in your area (not available in smaller, rural cities) before purchasing. My husband and I use this coffee pot at least once a day and we've had it over a year now. What couldn't be better than getting a cup of coffee from freshly ground beans and getting a quick weather update before heading out the door to go to work.
